What tyres involves

Tyres are the only part of your car touching the road, so the size, condition and quality of them decide how well the car stops, steers and grips in the wet. We carry and order tyres across every budget level, fit them on modern equipment, balance every wheel we fit, and dispose of your old tyres for you. We do not sell or fit part-worn tyres — every tyre we fit is brand new.

Signs you need new tyres

• Tread depth close to or below the UK legal minimum of 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre
• Cracking, bulges, cuts or exposed cord in the sidewall
• Uneven wear — worn on the inside or outside edge only, which often also points to an alignment problem
• A tyre that keeps losing pressure between top-ups
• Noticeably longer stopping distances or loss of grip in the wet
• Tyres more than a few years old, even with plenty of tread left, as rubber hardens with age

What we do at the workshop

1. 1Check your tyre size, speed rating and load index from the sidewall so the replacement is correct for your car
2. 2Talk you through premium, mid-range and budget options and what the difference actually means for wet grip, noise and mileage
3. 3Remove the old tyre, inspect the rim for damage or corrosion and clean the bead seat
4. 4Fit the new tyre, fit a new valve where appropriate, and inflate to the manufacturer's recommended pressure
5. 5Balance the wheel on our balancer so it runs true at speed
6. 6Torque the wheel nuts correctly and take away your old tyres for recycling
