What locking wheel nut removal involves

A locking wheel nut is only useful while you still have the key. Lose it, snap it, or find the pattern has worn smooth, and the wheel simply can't come off — which turns a five-minute puncture into a recovery truck. We have specialist extraction tools for removing locking nuts without the key, and we can supply and fit a replacement set afterwards.

What we do at the workshop

1. 1Inspect the nut to work out the pattern and how much of it is still usable
2. 2Use a dedicated extraction socket to bite into and back the nut out
3. 3Protect the alloy wheel face while we work so the finish isn't damaged
4. 4Check the wheel stud or bolt thread is undamaged afterwards
5. 5Supply and fit standard nuts or a new locking set if you want one
6. 6Torque everything correctly and hand you the new key
