What car servicing involves

Regular servicing is the cheapest motoring you'll ever do. Fresh oil and filters keep the engine clean, and a proper inspection catches worn brakes, perished hoses and leaking dampers while they're still small jobs. Because we also do tyres, brakes, exhausts and air conditioning here, anything we find can usually be sorted in the same visit rather than sending you somewhere else.

Signs your car is due a service

• The service indicator or spanner light is showing on the dashboard
• It's been 12 months or your mileage interval since the last service
• The engine sounds rougher, or feels less responsive than it used to
• Fuel economy has dropped without a change in how you drive
• Oil looks black and thin on the dipstick, or the level is low
• You're about to sell the car and want the service history up to date

What we do at the workshop

1. 1Interim service: engine oil and oil filter change, fluid level top-ups, tyre and brake check, lights, wipers and a visual safety inspection
2. 2Full service: everything in the interim service plus air filter, and other filters and checks according to your vehicle's schedule
3. 3Check brake pad and disc condition, and measure where accessible
4. 4Inspect suspension, steering, exhaust and driveshaft boots for wear and leaks
5. 5Check battery condition and charging
6. 6Report anything we find, explain what's urgent and what can wait, and quote you before doing extra work
